ABOUT AKTION CLUB

In 2017 the Dream Program partnered with the Kiwanis Club of Pascagoula and established the only Aktion Club in Mississippi. This club is under the auspices of Kiwanis International and comprised of people with disabilities who perform community services.

The members elect their officers, conduct their monthly meetings, and select their projects to be accomplished in the Gulf Coast Communities. The club functions under the direction of an Advisor from the Kiwanis Club and another Advisor from the Dream Program. New officers are selected each October, giving multiple members with disabilities the opportunity to enhance their leadership skills.

Aktion Club's past service projects have included:

  • Cleaning Front Beach in Ocean Springs and Beach Park in Pascagoula.

  • Assisting in serving meals at Our Daily Bread in Pascagoula.

  • Playing cards with residents at Retirement Homes.

  • Creating "Shoeboxes" to send to our troops overseas.

  • Participating in the "Downtown for the Holidays" in Pascagoula and having a float in the Christmas Parade.

  • Taking snacks and sweets to first responders in Ocean Springs.

  • Volunteering at the Humane Society in Gulfport.

  • Ringing bells for the Salvation Army at Christmas time and many others.

The Aktion Club continues to recruit new members and motivate Charter members to become involved again following the shutdown due to the Covid Virus.

If you're looking for something positive in which to become involved, the Aktion Club is for you!
